medical, dental and vision insurance
SBE offers a very competitive benefits package to all regular PT and
FT employees who work more than 20 hours per week. In California, SBE
offers Kaiser HMO, Aetna HMO and Aetna PPO medical
coverage. Our Wisconsin employees are insured with the Physicians Plus
POS. SBE pays a majority of the monthly insurance premium for its
employees.
The majority of the monthly insurance premiums are covered by SBE on
behalf of the employee and their eligible dependents. Dental coverage
consists of a PPO/Indemnity plan with The Guardian. The plans include
orthodontic coverage for both children and adults.
The vision plan offered through VSP provides for one comprehensive
examination in any 12 consecutive months, one pair of standard lenses
and one standard frame in any 24 consecutive months. Coverage for contact
lenses is also provided, in lieu of lenses and frames.
paid time off and holidays
Regular employees accrue Paid Time Off (PTO) at these rates:
0-3 years - 16 days/year
3+-8 years - 21 days/year
8+-15 years - 26 days/year
15+-20 years - 31 days/year
PTO accruals are prorated for part-time employees. In addition, SBE
offers 10 paid holidays per year.
short term and long term disability plans
SBE employees may receive a benefit of up to 60% of pay for short term
leaves of absence due to illness or injury. This disability benefit
is paid out in coordination with state disability benefits offered in
some states (CA included).
Long Term Disability Insurance is available at 70% of prior monthly
earnings up to a maximum of $18,000. Long Term Disability benefits are
available after a 180 day waiting period.
life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance
We offer company paid Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment
Insurance. The employee's beneficiary may receive one and one-half times
the employee's annual salary for purposes of Life and AD & D coverage.
401(k) and profit sharing
SBE's 401(k) retirement program is excellent. An employee may elect
to defer up to 15% of their annual base salary. The company matches
50 cents on the dollar up to 6%. The company matching contribution is
made each payroll period and is vested at 100%!
Annual profit sharing contributions may also be made to each employees
retirement account based on company profitability.
stock options and employee stock purchase plan
Stock option grants are offered to all new employees. The number of
shares are based on the level of the position.
We are pleased to provide employees with an opportunity to participate
in the Company's potential growth through the Employee Stock Purchase
Plan. The plan provides the purchase of common stock at a 15% discount
through payroll deduction. You have the
option of deducting between 1% and 15% of your base salary per pay period.
(Open enrollment periods are in June and December.)
pre-tax accounts:
dependent care and health care reimbursement
dependent care account: We offer a pre-tax Dependent
Care Account to those employees with day care expenses. The main advantage
of using this account is that reimbursement payments are made with dollars
that are not taxed. You can save hundreds of dollars in dependent care
costs each year by using this free benefit! Depending on your IRS filing
status, you may elect to have a maximum of $5,000 per calendar year
deducted on a pre-tax basis. Your election stays fixed for the entire
year unless you have a "family status change."
health care reimbursement account: You may also
elect to set aside up to $3,000 pre-tax dollars to pay for out-of-pocket
medical, dental, vision and prescription drug expenses. Eligible expenses
include: deductibles, coinsurance payments, co-pays and
other types of medical expenses not covered under our group health plans.
This account can save you money be reducing your taxable income.
employee assistance plan
Short term confidential counseling services are provided for health,
behavioral, legal and family problems. Services are provided 24 hours
a day, seven days per week to employees and immediate family members
of SBE, Inc.
health club membership
Employees may receive a benefit of $100 towards membership with a health
club of their choice. Employees are also reimbursed $2 for each work-out
day (up to a maximum of $20/month).
educational assistance and seminars
SBE encourages employees to continue their education. In order to assist
employees in such efforts, the Company policy provides reimbursement
of 100% of tuition expenses and book fees (up to $3,000 annually) for
courses which are directly related to the
employee's job function. Regular, part-time employees are eligible for
the same benefit on a pro-rated basis.
rideshare program
SBE encourages employees to rideshare or to make use of public transportation.
The company offers several different programs that provide incentives
for employees to use commuting alternatives.
AEA Credit Union
All employees are eligible to join the American Electronics Association
Credit Union. Benefits and services include: discount Travel services,
savings and checking accounts, VISA credit card, ATM access, Personal
and Auto loans, Home Loans, Individual
Retirement Accounts, Direct Deposit and more.
recruitment bonus
All regular, full-time and part-time employees, with the exception of
officers, Human Resources and the hiring manager are eligible to receive
a bonus for the successful referral and placement of an SBE employee.
The employee will receive $1,000 for the placement of a regular, exempt
level position and $500 for regular, non-exempt level placements. The
new employee must successfully complete at least 60 days of service
before payment is made.
