The HW400p+, a member of SBE's HighWire family of carrier-grade, high-performance communications products, is ideally suited for PCI-based telephony, soft switch and wireless applications where high performance and/or high link densities are required. The HW400p+ supports from two to six fully channelized T1/E1/J1 ports, an H.100 CT-Bus interface, and a 10/100 Ethernet port, combined with dedicated layer one and layer two protocol processors.

As a single-board solution, the HW400p+ provides two T1/E1/J1 ports with full surge protection, software configurable framing and programmable line equalization. A two-board, six T1/E1/J1 port solution is available by using the HW400p/x port expansion companion board in an adjacent slot.

The HW400p+ includes a 333MHz PowerPC core processor that accelerates layer two protocol and applications processing and a separate layer one edge processor to provide high link count HDLC and MTP1 processing. This performance-optimized combination allows up to 128 links to be processed through SS7 MTP2, with SBE's optional LinkWARE and HighWire software packages.

For computer telephony applications, the HW400p+ has a H.100 computer telephony interface and time slot interchanger (TSI). The TSI allows for dynamic, on-the-fly routing of individual DS0 channels between the edge processor, the H.100 bus, and the T1/E1/J1 ports.
